When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Monhegan Plantation
Per local plantation ordinances; all new construction, additions, and structural alterations. Shoreland Zoning permits required for work in shoreland zone (most of the island). Subsurface wastewater disposal permits required for new or expanded septic.

- 02 Note island-specific logistics: all materials must be barged to the island; construction timing and access must be coordinated.
- 03 Complete applicable permit application (building, plumbing, land use, shoreland zoning as applicable).
- 04 Submit application to plantation office with required supporting documents.
- 05 CEO reviews application.
- 06 Pay applicable permit fee.
- 07 Permit issued; post at job site.
