When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Bremen
All construction, structural alteration, use changes, and land disturbance activities per Land Use Ordinance (April 2024 revision). Shoreland activities require shoreland zoning permit. Consult ordinances before construction begins.

- 01 Consult Town Office (207-529-5945) to obtain current CEO contact and confirm which ordinances and permits apply to your project.
- 02 Review Land Use Ordinance (April 2024 revision) and Shoreland Zoning Ordinance (April 2024 revision) to understand applicable standards.
- 03 Contact CEO to discuss project; if Planning Board review is required, submit application by noon before the applicable board meeting.
- 04 Applicants may request an informal pre-application conference with the Planning Board or town planning consultant through the Town Clerk.
- 05 Complete and submit application with required supporting documents.
- 06 Pay applicable permit fee (fee schedule not publicly posted; contact CEO or town office).
- 07 Note: After-the-fact permits are not automatically granted.

- 09 Schedule required inspections.
