When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Bethlehem

- NH State Building Code (RSA 155-A) / 2021 IBC/IRC.

- NH state licensing required for electricians and plumbers.
Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Determine permit type needed (new construction, addition, commercial, ADU, solar, etc.).
- 02 Download the appropriate application from bethlehemnh.gov/forms-applications/.
- 03 Prepare required documents (site plan, building plans/drawings; full architectural/engineering plans for larger projects).
- 04 Submit completed application with fee to Town Hall.
- 05 Building Inspector reviews for code and zoning compliance.
- 06 Permit issued. Post permit on site.
- 07 Schedule required inspections.
- 08 Upon completion, submit Certificate of Occupancy application and pass final inspection.
