When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Ashland

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Download permit application from ashlandnh.org/building-inspector/ or pick up at Town Hall.
- 02 Complete application. For new single-family homes and commercial buildings, include septic approval and building/site plans. Other work requires a sketch and location drawing.
- 03 Submit to Building Inspector at Town Hall with required fees.
- 04 Staff Advisor confirms all Zoning Ordinance requirements are met before permit is issued.
- 05 Building Inspector issues or denies permit.
- 06 Post permit on site. Call for required inspections during construction.
- 07 Final inspection and closeout.
