Application process
Typical processing: 30 days from receipt of a complete local permit application (Vermont statute requirement)
- 01 Determine whether your project is located in a Flood Hazard Area. If so, a Flood Hazard Area permit is required before construction.
- 02 Download the Flood Hazard Area Zoning Ordinance from https://corinthvt.org/town-govt/ordinances-policies/ for details.
- 03 Since Corinth has no general zoning, most residential construction does not require a local municipal permit. Check with the Administrative Officer (Stephen Devoto, admin.officer@corinthvt.org) before commencing any project.
- 04 For commercial, public, or multi-family buildings: obtain a state DFS construction permit via https://firesafety.vermont.gov/buildingcode/permits/permit-web-portal or by contacting DFS Central Office at 802-479-7561.
- 05 For developments that may trigger Act 250 (1-acre threshold applies in municipalities without robust zoning): consult https://act250.vermont.gov/ and contact the District 4 Environmental Commission.
- 06 Submit Flood Hazard Area permit application (if applicable) to the Town Office with applicable fees.
- 07 Contact the Administrative Officer for any locally-required permits or pre-construction consultation.
