Permit triggers and exempt work for St. Albans
A Building Notification Application must be filed prior to building any structure 40 sq ft or more.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 If building a new structure or adding on: Fill out a 'Building Notification Application' and file with the Town of St. Albans. Fee: $5.00.
- 02 If demolishing a structure: Fill out a 'Building Notification Application.' No charge.
- 03 For work within the Shoreland Zone: Fill out a 'Shoreland Zoning Application' AND contact the CEO before beginning any work. Call Town Office at (207) 938-4568 to set up an appointment with the CEO.
- 04 All structures 40 square feet or more require a Building Notification filing prior to construction.
- 05 Pay applicable fee ($5.00 for building notification).
- 06 Schedule appointment with CEO as needed for shoreland zone work or complex projects.
