Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Contact the Code Enforcement Office at (207) 453-7911 or info@fairfield-me.gov with questions before starting.
- 02 Obtain the Building Permit Application (Rev. 2025) from the town website or office.
- 03 A building permit is required for all construction involving the construction, repair, movement, removal, or demolition of any building or structure.
- 04 Separate permits are required for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
- 05 Complete the application and attach required documents (site plan, construction drawings, contractor info as applicable).
- 06 The price of the permit is calculated using the cost of the construction.
- 07 Submit application and pay fee to the CEO's office.
- 08 Await review and approval.
- 09 Post permit and retain plans on-site.
- 10 Schedule inspections with the CEO's office.
- 11 Obtain Certificate of Occupancy upon successful final inspection.
