Permit triggers and exempt work for New Albany
New construction, additions, alterations, and all trade work for residential and commercial structures within New Albany city limits.

- Contractor registration required as of June 2025: $50 annual fee, proof of insurance, and valid trade license. State OCILB license required for applicable trades.

Typical processing: Inspections assigned each morning; footings and commercial life/safety inspections given preference. Inspection requests by 4:00 PM receive next-business-day service.

- 05 Department reviews plans for code compliance (2019 RCO for residential; 2024 OBC for commercial)
- 06 Pay fees when plan review is complete and prior to permit issuance
