When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Fort Kent

- 02 Download the Building/Land Use Permit application from https://www.fortkent.org/forms.
- 03 Complete the application with project details, ownership information, site plan, and narrative of intended work.
- 04 If the property abuts a state roadway, obtain a MaineDOT Driveway Permit first; the town will not issue local permits until the state driveway permit is in hand.
- 05 Submit the completed application to the town office at 416 West Main Street.
- 06 The CEO reviews the application and may grant, grant with conditions, deny, or refer to the Planning Board.
- 07 Pay applicable fees; permit is issued upon approval.
- 08 Post permit on job site. Contact CEO to schedule required inspections.
- 09 Obtain Certificate of Occupancy as applicable.
