When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Unity
New construction; additions; alterations; construction of any building or structure. Per Land Use Ordinance: any dwelling unit must be a minimum of 750 square feet. Driveway Permit required separately for new building lots. No structure may be used or occupied until Certificate of Occupancy is issued.

- 03 A separate Driveway Permit is required for new building lots.
- 04 Submit completed application with fee to Town Office.
- 05 Application reviewed; after criteria are met and fee is paid, building permit is issued.
- 06 Pick up permit within 30 days of issuance (permit becomes void if not picked up within 30 days).
- 07 Post permit on job site; commence construction within six months of approval date (permit becomes void if operations not commenced within six months, unless building official grants extension).
- 08 Schedule required inspections.
- 09 A building or structure shall not be used or occupied, in whole or in part, until a Certificate of Occupancy has been issued.
