When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Henefer
Henefer requires a building permit for construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, movement, improvement, removal, conversion, or demolition of any building or structure.
- Exempt Detached accessory building for storage, playhouse, or similar use not exceeding 200 square feet
- Exempt Fence 6 feet or less in height
- Exempt Retaining wall 4 feet or less in height
- Exempt Water tank supported directly on grade with capacity of 5,000 gallons or less
- Exempt Platform, walk, and driveway no more than 30 inches above grade
- Exempt Painting, papering, and similar finish work
- Exempt Temporary motion picture, television, and theater stage sets and scenery
- Exempt Window awning supported by an exterior wall
- Exempt Prefabricated swimming pool with 5,000 gallon capacity or less
- $200 application fee
- Two sets of construction drawings with elevations and exterior materials/colors
- Two copies of site plan
- Grading, drainage, and erosion control plan
- Legal description, plat map, and tax serial number
- Septic permit approval if applicable
- Road approval if applicable
- Sewer and water connection approval by the Henefer Town Council when required

Application process

- 05 Stake property corners and keep stakes in place through construction.
- 06 After review and approval, receive the permit and keep approved plans onsite.
- 07 Schedule inspections with the building inspector and complete final approvals.
