When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Myerstown Borough
The Borough says zoning permits are required for new structures, additions and alterations, new uses, lot-line changes, demolition of historic buildings, site alterations, mineral extraction, and many common projects including decks, driveways, fences over 3 feet, garages, patios, sheds, signs, solar systems, pools, and outdoor walls over 3 feet.
- Exempt Ordinary repairs and maintenance that do not involve expansion or change of use or structure (for example, replacement of a roof or porch that does not enclose space)
- Exempt Note: Work in an identified floodplain still requires a permit even if ordinarily exempt
Note: Exempt from zoning permit does not mean exempt from other code or building requirements. Confirm with Myerstown Borough before proceeding.
