When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Voorhees Township
Permit required for all construction except ordinary repairs and minor work as defined by NJ UCC.
- Exempt Ordinary repairs: painting, wallpapering, glass replacement, trim replacement, flooring under 25%

Note: No building may be occupied prior to Certificate of Occupancy (CO) issuance. No work concealed until Code Official approves. Confirm edge cases with Construction Department before proceeding.
- Completed NJ DCA permit application forms (F100 and applicable subcodes)
- Residential plans: 2 sets (owner-prepared or NJ licensed architect/engineer-designed)
- Commercial plans: signed and sealed by NJ licensed architect or engineer
- Digital plans required for large documents via email
- Solar Systems: must receive renewable energy certification for tax exemption

- Contractor registration with NJ Division of Consumer Affairs

- Permit validity
- 12 months from issue date if work is started; remains in effect as long as work is not halted for 6 months or more.
- Owner-builder
- Owner-builders may perform work on owner-occupied single-family dwellings; residential plans do not need to be professionally drawn.
- Contractor requirements
- All contractors must be registered with NJ Division of Consumer Affairs.

Application process

- 01 Complete NJ DCA UCC Form F100 and applicable subcode forms (F110, F120, F130, F140).
- 02 Prepare construction plans: 2 sets for residential (homeowner or NJ licensed architect/engineer), sealed plans for commercial.
- 03 For large document plans (blueprints), prepare digital copy for email submission.
- 04 Submit completed forms and plans to Construction Department at 2400 Voorhees Town Center or via email to inspections@voorheesnj.com.
- 05 Construction Department reviews plans for code compliance.
- 06 If plans are deficient, plan review comments sent by email requiring written response.
- 07 Once all issues satisfied and payment received, permit is issued.
