Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Download the 'Zoning Ordinance Certificate of Compliance Application' from the Planning Board page.
- 02 Complete all sections: owner/applicant info, tax map/lot, project type, dimensions, setbacks, materials, number of bedrooms, approximate construction cost, flood zone status, shoreline proximity.
- 03 Determine whether the project is within 25 feet of a right-of-way or within 250 feet of a protected shoreline, as additional state reviews may apply.
- 04 Attach water/septic documentation: either an NH DES 'Approval for Construction' for a septic system, a Town of Colebrook water/septic service application, or a signed waiver (waiver not available if work expands the footprint of a structure on a septic system without a current NH operational approval dated within 20 years).
- 05 If the project involves a new driveway to a public road, obtain a separate driveway/access road permit. If accessing a state highway, obtain NH DOT permit.
- 06 If accessing a Class VI highway or private road, additional town review and a liability agreement are required before the permit is issued.
