When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Elkton

- 02 Submit a zoning certificate application to the Town of Elkton Building and Zoning Department at 100 Railroad Avenue. Include a scaled site plan, construction drawings, and applicable owner authorization.
- 03 Receive the approved Town zoning authorization package.
- 04 Bring the approved Town zoning authorization package to the Cecil County Division of Permits and Inspections, 200 Chesapeake Blvd., Elkton, and apply for the county building permit through the OpenGov portal.
- 05 Submit all required documents including county permit application, drawings, and Town approval.
- 06 Pay the non-refundable $10.00 technology fee at time of county application; full permit fees are due prior to permit issuance.
- 07 For electrical work, submit an application to a county-approved electrical inspection agency simultaneously.
- 08 Receive the county building permit and keep it on site during construction.
- 09 Schedule all required county inspections with 24 hours notice.
