When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Unionville
Unionville's zoning package states a zoning permit is required for residential, institutional, and commercial uses. No structure may be used or occupied until a certificate of compliance has been issued.
Note: Unionville does not publish a general exemption list in reviewed applications package. Because the town package says zoning permits are required for residential, institutional, and commercial uses, confirm with Town Hall before treating work as exempt. Separate building-permit exemptions depend on the applicable code authority.
- Scaled dimensional survey drawn by and certified by a NC surveyor or engineer
- Plot plan showing lot shape, dimensions, existing and proposed structures, setbacks, parking if required, landscaping/buffering if required, and other information needed to show ordinance compliance
- Building code
- Unionville enforces its Land Use Ordinance for zoning. Any building permits are subject to the NC State Building Code under the applicable building authority.
- Contractor requirements
- State licensing rules apply. Building-code permits outside the town zoning process should be coordinated separately.
