When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Sewall's Point
Sewall's Point's Building Department applies and enforces zoning, floodplain, licensing, ordinances, and building codes for structural, electrical, plumbing, gas, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work.

Note: Very few construction projects are exempt. Sewall's Point publishes a building department FAQ that tracks Florida code exemptions and emergency repair rules. Ordinary minor repairs require approval of the building official and may not include structural, egress, piping, wiring, mechanical, or other public-safety-affecting work. Emergency repair permit applications must be submitted the next working business day.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Confirm the property is inside Sewall's Point town limits.
