When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Indiantown
Any owner or authorized agent who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move, demolish, or change occupancy, or work on gas, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing systems, needs to apply for a building permit.

Note: Emergency repairs require a permit to be submitted the next business day. Ordinary minor repairs still require approval of the building official when applicable.

- Permit validity
- Permits expire when work is suspended or abandoned for 90 days. Lack of an approved inspection within 90 days validates the job has been suspended or abandoned.
- Owner-builder
- The village publishes owner-builder information and affidavits and follows Florida owner-builder rules.
Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Confirm the parcel is inside the Village of Indiantown.
- 02 Create or use a Civic Access account and complete the permit application in the online system.
- 03 Upload plans and supporting documents; signed support forms are linked on the village website for convenience.
- 04 If needed, use the village's information packet to assemble the correct project-specific submittal package.
- 05 Pay fees online or through the village's accepted intake process.
- 06 Respond to plan review comments and obtain permit issuance before starting work.
- 07 Request inspections through Civic Access, by email, or by phone, and obtain final approval.

Indiantown building permit fees
Zoning review fee, when required, is $200 and is collected at submittal. State surcharges: F.S. 553.721 surcharge of 1% of permit fee with $2 minimum, F.S. 468.631 surcharge of 1.5% of permit fee with $2 minimum. Martin County impact fees may apply and applicants should check with Martin County Growth Management. Martin County Fire Prevention fees may apply for non-residential and multifamily residential construction.
