Permit triggers and exempt work for Gillette
Required for new construction, additions, alterations, repairs, and changes of occupancy. Commercial plans exceeding an occupant load of 10 must be signed and sealed by a professional engineer or architect registered in Wyoming.
Note: Exempt work governed by adopted 2024 IBC/IRC Section 105.2 and Gillette local amendments. Typical exemptions include: one-story detached accessory buildings under 200 sq ft; fences not over 7 ft; retaining walls under 4 ft; water tanks up to 5,000 gallons; sidewalks and driveways not more than 30 inches above grade; painting, papering, tiling, carpeting, cabinets, countertops, and similar finish work; prefabricated swimming pools under 24 inches deep; window awnings.
