When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Holliday
Construction or remodeling of residential, commercial, or public buildings within city limits requires a building permit from the city secretary. The published fee schedule also covers carports, outbuildings, patios, additions, remodels, mobile home connections, electrical repair, roofing or siding, swimming pools, sprinkler systems, and cellars.
Note: No public exempt-work list was identified.
- All pertinent permit information
- Contractor or subcontractor information
- Master-license signoff for electrical work
- Building code
- International Residential Code, 2000 edition. Current application materials show the city actively inspects electrical, HVAC, framing, and foundation work. Note: the city does not presently permit or inspect plumbing work as it does not employ a licensed plumbing inspector.
- Owner-builder
- Owners who own and occupy the property as their primary residence may make electrical repairs after a city permit is issued, without employing a master electrician.
- Contractor requirements
- Plumbing and electrical contractors working in the city must post a $10,000 bond. Electrical work must be performed by a master licensed and insured electrician. Gas work must be performed by a licensed plumber.
