Hanover states building permits are required for residential and commercial new construction, remodels and renovations involving structural change, electrical or plumbing work, ADA-triggering work, changes to ingress/egress, fire alarm or extinguishing system changes, additions or expansions, accessory structures 1,000 square feet or over, and accessory structures with electrical or plumbing

Application process
Typical processing: Borough policy says the contracted third-party review process can take anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks depending on project nature
- 01 Review Hanover's permitting policy before submitting an application.
- 02 Submit the permit application electronically through the iWorQ portal, including all required uploads and electronic signature.
- 03 Include any stormwater management materials and outside approvals if the project disturbs 500 square feet or more or 5,000 square feet or more as outlined by the Borough.
- 04 Borough staff and the contracted third-party UCC reviewer inspect and review the submittal.
- 05 Pay the invoice, including Borough permit fees and any third-party review and inspection charges.
- 06 Pick up or finalize issuance of the permit through DCE and complete inspections before use or occupancy.
