When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Lodi
Lodi zoning code requires a zoning certificate before construction, reconstruction, structural alteration, moving a building, or changing use on premises, in addition to any required county building permit. County building permits are needed for regulated building, electrical, HVAC, and similar work.
- Lodi zoning: application, plot plan drawn to scale, deed of record, building location and dimensions, intended use
- County building submissions: application, plans, site plot, and supporting approvals
- Building code
- Lodi zoning is governed by the Village of Lodi zoning code. Building-code permits are handled by Medina County under Ohio building and residential codes.
- Permit validity
- Lodi zoning certificate becomes void one year after issuance unless construction starts. If construction does not start or use is not changed within one year, a new application is required.
- Contractor requirements
- No village contractor registration program on public Lodi pages. County materials state Medina County no longer registers contractors, but HVAC and electrical contractors must provide state licenses when applying.
