Permit triggers and exempt work for Lorain

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Determine the permit type from the city's Permits page and download the matching PDF application or contractor packet.
- 02 Prepare the application, plans, and any required supporting documents for the project type.
- 03 Submit the completed package by email to bhp@cityoflorain.org or in person to the Building, Housing and Planning Department.
- 04 Pay permit and any plan review fees under the city's fee schedule.
- 05 After approval, receive the permit, post it on site, and schedule inspections by phone or email with at least 24 hours notice.
- 06 Complete required inspections and obtain final approval or certificate of occupancy when applicable.
