When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Owego
A building permit is required for any work regulated by the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code.

- Exempt Same-location electrical or plumbing fixture replacement

Note: Work requiring a permit includes new buildings, additions, foundations, demolition, decks, pools, storage sheds, fireplaces other than gas-burning, new windows or doors, structural work, and substantial remodeling. Confirm edge cases with the Code Enforcement office before proceeding.
