When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for D'Iberville

- Written statement from the architect or designer confirming that the construction plans meet the minimum code requirements
- Three Certificates of Elevation (for properties in Special Flood Hazard Areas, required at specific construction phases)
- Building code
- 2018 International Code Conference suite, including: International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), International Property Maintenance Code, International Plumbing Code, International Fuel Gas Code, International Mechanical Code, International Fire Prevention Code, International Pool and Spa Code, 2018 International Energy Conservation Code, ICC 600-2008 Standard for Residential Construction in High-Wind Regions (up to 160 mph), and the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC).

- Permits expire if authorized work is not commenced within 60 days from the date of permitting, or if the authorized work is abandoned for a period of 60 days.

Application process
Typical processing: Up to 15 days for issuance or refusal.

- 02 Assemble all required documents (see General Requirements below).
- 03 Submit two complete sets of plans and all documents in person at 10383 Automall Parkway, D'Iberville, MS 39540.
- 04 Building Director has up to 15 days to issue or refuse the permit.
- 05 Any corrections or additional information are communicated to the applicant.
- 06 Permit is issued; permit card must be posted visible from the street.
- 07 Approved plans must remain on-site throughout construction.
- 08 Request inspections with up to 24 hours advance notice; adequate toilet facilities and a construction dumpster are required on-site.
- 09 For properties in Special Flood Hazard Areas: Three Certificates of Elevation are required at specified construction phases.
- 10 Final inspection; certificate of occupancy issued upon satisfactory completion.
