When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Grant Park
Any erection, enlargement, alteration, or repair of any building component or building per municipal code Section 4-1-4.

- Electricians and plumbers must hold IDFPR state licenses. No local general contractor registration confirmed.

Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Before beginning any construction, enlargement, alteration, or repair, file a permit application with the Building Department.
- 02 Obtain application form in person from Village Hall at 106 W. Taylor Street, Monday-Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- 03 Prepare plans drawn to scale of not less than 1/8 inch to 1 foot.
- 04 For commercial, industrial, or publicly accessible buildings: plans must be prepared, signed, and sealed by licensed architect or structural engineer.
- 05 Submit plans to the Grant Park Community Fire Protection District for review before permit is issued.
- 06 Submit application and plans to Village Hall.
- 07 Pay permit fee (in person or via GovPayNet online).
- 08 Note: $500 fine for beginning work requiring a permit without approved application.
