Permit triggers and exempt work for Dunnellon
Permit-triggering work includes roofs, windows, entry doors, drywall work, new electrical lines and panel upgrades, irrigation systems, new plumbing lines, generator hookups, HVAC replacement and new installs, sheds, decks, retaining walls, boat lifts and docks, driveways, fencing, and demolition.

- An NOC is required for jobs over $7,500, or $15,000 for HVAC.
- Contractor requirements
- State-certified contractors do not pay city contractor registration fees, but permitting still requires validation of state licensure, workers' compensation and liability insurance, any exemption certificate, proof the contractor is working within license scope, and a driver's license copy.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Confirm the property is within Dunnellon city limits.
- 02 Submit the completed, notarized application with required attachments online, by email, in person, or by carrier.
- 03 The plans examiner reviews the application and either approves it or requests more information.
- 04 Once approved, the city notifies the applicant by email that the permit is ready with the fee amount and pickup instructions.
- 05 Pay the fees in person or by mail; after payment, Dunnellon issues the permit and provides hard copies for the job site.
- 06 Schedule inspections by email or phone and obtain final approval.
