Permit triggers and exempt work for Fruita
Fruita's Building Division handles the building permit process for work regulated by its adopted codes. The adopted 2025 ordinance states each separate building, structure, pool, retaining wall, etc. requires a separate permit.
- Exempt Sidewalks, driveways, and platforms not more than 30 inches above adjacent grade, not over a basement or story below, and not part of an accessible route
- Exempt Swings and other playground equipment located outside
- Exempt Plastic covered crop production shelters where public access is prohibited
- Exempt Shade fabric structures 400 square feet or less
- Exempt Storage containers on active construction sites for short-term utilization, subject to annual review
- Exempt Residential reroof overlays up to two layers
