The city uses a building permit process for construction work inside city limits.

- Effective January 1, 2026, the city enforces the 2024 International Codes. Effective April 1, 2026, the city begins enforcing the Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code. Plumbing and gas permits begin July 1, 2026 through the city building division; electrical permits are handled by the State of Colorado.

Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Review submittal requirements and confirm whether the project is residential, commercial, or multi-family.
- 02 Prepare plans, stamps, site plans, MEP sheets, and any deferred submittals required by the city.
- 03 Submit through the OpenGov portal.
- 04 City reviews plans against adopted codes and wildfire requirements.
- 05 Permit is issued after review and payment of applicable fees.
