When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Siloam Springs
New residential and commercial construction; additions; remodels; plumbing; mechanical; electrical; demolition; accessory buildings; fences/walls; driveways/sidewalks.

- 2021 Arkansas Fire Prevention Code Volumes I, II, and III (incorporating 2021 IBC, 2021 IRC with Arkansas amendments).
- Owner-builder
- All MEP permits are issued to Arkansas-licensed contractors unless the homeowner qualifies for the homeowner's exemption. Homeowner's exemption requires owner to own and occupy the home as primary residence and perform the work themselves.
- Contractor requirements
- Arkansas contractor license required; MEP permits issued to licensed MEP contractors only (or owner-builder exemption applies).
Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Download application forms from https://www.siloamsprings.com/368/Applications or complete online at BS&A portal.
- 02 Email all submittals to building@siloamsprings.com (or submit online).
- 03 Call (479) 373-1811 to pay the plan review fee. Plan review fees are due at the time of submittal and must be paid before the application is processed.
- 04 Application is reviewed; applicant notified of approval or required revisions.
- 05 All other fees (permit fees) are due after approval.
- 06 Permit is issued; post permit on site.
- 07 Call (479) 373-1811 to schedule inspections, minimum 24 hours in advance. Note: no final inspections on Fridays.
- 08 Pass all required inspections.
