When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Middletown
Middletown requires zoning review for building-permit applications. The zoning form covers residential and commercial new construction, additions, accessory structures, sign permits, temporary uses, and change-of-use approvals. Frederick County building permits are then required for USBC-regulated work.
Note: No separate Middletown exempt-work list was found. Frederick County and the Virginia USBC control building-permit exemptions. Town zoning review may still be required for work within town limits even when a county building permit is not required. Contact the Town of Middletown Planning and Zoning office before proceeding.
