Permit triggers and exempt work for Washington City Building Department

Application process

- 01 Review the permit application instructions for the specific permit type on the building department page
- 02 Log in to the Builder Account on City Inspect to begin a new application
- 03 Complete all required permit fields and upload PDF plan sets and supporting documents
- 04 For new commercial and new single family permits, the city uses a packet review process where all departments review in parallel
- 05 Monitor comments in the portal, correct documents when the application is returned for updates, and resubmit
- 06 When all review tabs are green, the application moves to pending, fees become available, and the permit can be issued after payment
- 07 Request inspections through the Builder Account; next-day requests must be entered by 3 pm
