Application Process

  1. Call Moroni City Hall at 435-436-8359 to request an appointment with the Zoning Commissioners. The Zoning Commissioner will explain the zoning permit process and applicable requirements.
  2. Complete the Moroni City zoning permit application and submit it by the Thursday prior to the monthly Planning and Zoning Commission meeting (deadline: 2:30 PM that Thursday). Contact City Recorder Carol Haskins to be added to the agenda at least one week in advance.
  3. The Planning and Zoning Commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00 PM. All building projects must be reviewed and approved by the Commission before construction begins.
  4. If Conditional Use Permit (CUP) approval is required, the City Council issues the CUP before the zoning permit can be signed.
  5. After receiving Moroni City zoning approval, apply for the county building permit through CityInspect with construction plans and required documents.
  6. Obtain WUI clearance if required.
  7. Pay applicable fees to both the city and the county.
  8. Receive and post the county-issued building permit before work begins.
  9. Schedule all building inspections through the county at 435-835-2113.
  10. Upon project completion, obtain the Moroni City Occupancy Permit. The Occupancy Permit certifies that all provisions of the Moroni City Zoning Permit and the Sanpete County Building Permit are in compliance and must be filed with the City Recorder's Office.
