Before any building, alteration, demolition, or moving of any building or structure, including fences, swimming pools, carports, and other listed projects. City also states most home improvement projects beyond cosmetic work require a permit.

• Exempt Cosmetic work such as painting, wallpapering, carpeting, patching sheetrock, cabinets, and trim work
• Exempt Replacing existing electrical lighting or plumbing fixtures

Contractor requirements

All licensed contractors must register with the city. Registration fee is $100 and valid for 12 months.

Requests emailed before 12:00 PM may be scheduled the same day if possible or next day if necessary; requests after 12:00 PM are scheduled for the next day unless the inspector is nearby, within 2 business days at most.
