When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Palisades
Building permits are required for any construction within the Village of Palisades.
Note: Permit categories include: permanent structures over 64 square feet at $100, portable structures with skids at $50, remodels over $10,000 at $50, roofs and fences at $25, and decks, patios, and carports at $25. Extensions cost $250. See the fee schedule for complete information.

Application process

- 01 Contact the Permit Clerk to discuss your project and obtain permit requirements.
- 02 Obtain floodplain administrator approval if your project is in a floodplain area.
- 03 Prepare construction plans and supporting documentation.
- 04 Submit permit application and supporting documents to the Permit Clerk.
- 05 Pay the required permit fee.
- 06 Once approved, schedule inspections with the village-contracted inspector.
- 07 Pay inspection fees when scheduling.
- 08 Upon completion of work and passing inspections, the permit is closed.
