When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Littlefield
Permits required for erection, construction, installation, alteration, repair, relocation, replacement, addition to, moving, removal, demolition, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area, and maintenance of buildings or structures. Code Enforcement handles construction, roofs, and fence permits.

- Exempt Temporary motion picture, television, and theater stage sets and scenery
- Exempt Prefabricated swimming pools less than 24 inches deep, under 5,000 gallons, and installed entirely above ground
- Exempt Swings and other playground equipment accessory to one- and two-family dwellings
- Exempt Movable cases, counters, and partitions not over 5 feet 9 inches in height

- For work supervised by affidavit, architect or engineer supervision may be required

- Permit validity
- Permits become invalid if work is not started within 90 days or is suspended/abandoned for 90 days. New residential permits expire 365 days after issuance; new nonresidential permits expire 730 days after issuance. Extensions may be granted in writing.

- Roofing work is expressly listed among permit types handled by Code Enforcement.
