When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Ranger
All mobile homes placed inside Ranger city limits must have the permit filed in advance. Business peddlers, solicitors, and vendors must submit a permit application before conducting services. No clearly documented public general building-permit program for ordinary building work found.

Application process

- 01 Confirm the property is inside Ranger city limits.
- 02 Check the city's Permits page to see whether the project falls within one of the permit categories the city currently publishes online. The posted page presently covers mobile home placement permits and peddler-solicitor-vendor permits.
- 03 For mobile homes, complete the Mobile Home Placement Permit Application and attach the required title or Statement of Ownership and Location, identification, and if not in an established park, the legal description, current survey, photographs, and scaled site plan with utilities.
- 04 Submit the application to the City of Ranger for review. The application states all fees must be paid before issuance and that the application is invalid after 90 days from receipt at City Hall.
- 05 The mobile home application states projects may require at least 15 business days depending on completeness and correctness and notes that all permits require a public hearing, with notice to property owners within 500 feet where required by the ordinance.
- 06 For peddlers, solicitors, and vendors, submit the permit application to the city by email at citysecretary@rangertx.gov or in person at 400 W. Main Street. The city states this permit will take 48 hours to be processed.
- 07 The reviewed public record did not reveal a posted start-to-issued general building-permit workflow for ordinary building construction.
