Building code

The city states it has already adopted its authorized building codes. Its ordinance library identifies 'Adopted 2006 international building codes,' while the current fee schedule and development guide show an active modern permitting program.

Contractor requirements

Uhland requires contractors performing work requiring permits in the city or ETJ to register with the city, provide license and insurance information, and pay the applicable registration fee. A homestead owner performing work on the owner's occupied residence is exempt from the contractor-registration ordinance.

   Create an account in MyGovernmentOnline and submit the building permit application there.

   For residential permits, use the city's posted residential permit/forms resources or the MyGovernmentOnline intake path.

   If the project involves subdivision master plans, plats, or plat waivers, schedule the required pre-application conference with city staff before filing.

   For inspections, email permits@uhlandtx.us with the project address, requested inspection, name, and phone number.

   Submit inspection requests by 3:00 p.m. for consideration of next-day scheduling.

Single-family residential application and plan review: $25 plus professional fees. New single-family permit and inspections: starts at $500 for 1-500 square feet; then tiered square-foot schedules upward. Additions/remodel/repair permit and inspections: $0.30 per square foot, not including trade permits. Residential certificate of occupancy: $50. Development/platting fees: pre-application conference $200 per half hour; subdivision master plan $1,500 plus $150 per acre plus professional fees; preliminary plat $1,000 plus $75 per lot plus professional fees.
