When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Lakeview
Permits required for all new residential and commercial structures, structural alterations or changes, plumbing installations and alterations, mechanical (HVAC) installations and alterations, electrical installations and alterations, demolition, land use/zoning changes, additions and renovations.
Note: No exempt construction: Oregon law does not allow permit-free residential building statewide.

- Building/land use permit application form
- Engineering drawings for substantial projects
- Building code
- Oregon Residential Specialty Code (ORSC), Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC), applicable Lakeview municipal ordinances
- Permit validity
- Work must begin within 6 months of issuance; expires if abandoned 180+ days
- Owner-builder
- Owner-builders may perform their own work subject to approval.
- Contractor requirements
- All contractors must hold current Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) license and current City of Lakeview business license throughout construction.
