When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Lincoln County
County permits cover new construction, additions, renovations, accessory structures, pools, piers, manufactured homes, demolition, retaining walls, and most trade work.
- Exempt Qualifying North Carolina statutory permit-exempt work costing $40,000 or less where no structural, plumbing design, HVAC or electrical design, roofing addition, or fire-code trigger is present
- Exempt Replacement of windows, doors, exterior siding, and certain porch or deck finish components within the statutory exemption
- Exempt Same-kind residential water heater replacement when the North Carolina statutory conditions are met
