When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Hendersonville
Henderson County requires building permits for new construction, additions, remodels, many accessory structures, trade permits, pools, reroofs, solar, foundation repair, demolition, and other work listed in the county fee schedule. In city limits, a city zoning compliance permit is also typically required before county issuance.
Note: The city and county pages do not publish a consolidated Hendersonville-specific exempt-work list for building permits. Applicants should confirm permit-exempt work directly with Henderson County Permits & Inspections and the City of Hendersonville Community Development Department before starting work.
