Permit triggers and exempt work for Red Willow County
All development in unincorporated Red Willow County requires zoning compliance review

- All contractors and subcontractors with Nebraska employees must register annually with Nebraska Department of Labor ($25/year fee; workers' compensation certificate required). No state general contractor license exists.

- 02 Download Zoning Permit application from county website
- 03 Prepare required documents: application form, site plan, setbacks, legal description
- 04 Submit completed application with applicable fee to Zoning Administrator
- 05 Zoning Administrator reviews for compliance with Red Willow County Zoning Regulations
- 06 For conditional uses, apply for Conditional Use Permit through Planning Commission with public hearing
- 07 For variances, apply to Board of Zoning Adjustment
- 08 For construction disturbing 1+ acres, obtain NDEE Construction Stormwater General Permit before breaking ground
- 09 If project involves onsite wastewater (septic), coordinate with NDEE or Red Willow County Health Department
- 10 Obtain all state-level permits as applicable: NSED electrical permit, NSFM plan review for commercial projects
