City of Marks

A building permit is required for new construction of residential or commercial structures, additions and alterations beyond minor repairs, electrical/plumbing/mechanical/gas system work, manufactured/mobile home placement, demolition, and sign installations.

• Exempt Purely cosmetic work (painting, flooring, minor repairs) generally exempt from permit requirements.

Note: Exemptions from building permits do not mean exemption from zoning and planning requirements. Confirm edge cases with City Hall before proceeding.
