When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Montevideo
Permits are required for nearly all construction projects in the city and the two-mile radius, including shingling, siding, windows, doors, non-structural interior remodeling, mechanical projects, signs, sheds under 200 sq ft, moving structures on city streets, replacing public sidewalks, demolitions, and other construction within city jurisdiction.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Complete the application form.
- 02 Include applicant, owner, contractor, architect/engineer, property address, property ID, legal description, proposed use, site plan review, zoning approval, valuation, and permit fee calculations.
- 03 Provide foundation location survey, post the permit card, and include the site address.
- 04 Submit the application to City Hall / Building Inspection Department.
- 05 Pay fees before starting work.
