When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Oshtemo Township
The township reviews plans, issues permits, and performs inspections for construction and trade work in Oshtemo Township.
- Exempt Accessory structures up to 120 square feet
- Exempt Fences up to 7 feet high
- Exempt Ordinary finish work such as painting, cabinets, carpeting, and similar finishes
Note: Exempt from building permit does not mean exempt from zoning requirements. Because Oshtemo separates planning and zoning from building review, even work exempt from a building permit may still need zoning confirmation in some cases.

- Owner-builder
