When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Porter
Per the Porter Land Use Ordinance (April 7, 2021 revision); construction, placement, or alteration of structures. Pre-built shed placement requires prior contact with CEO.

- Contractor requirements
- No general contractor state license required. Maine state licenses required for electricians and plumbers. State-level permits from Maine DEP, Maine Forest Service, or Saco River Corridor Commission may be required depending on project location and scope.

- 02 Download and complete the Land Use Permit Application (or Building Permit Application as applicable) from the code enforcement page.
- 03 If placing a pre-built shed, contact CEO prior to placement.
- 04 Submit completed application with supporting documents at appointment.
- 05 Fee assessed per the Consolidated Fees document (amended February 8, 2023); pay fee.
- 06 Permit issued; begin work.
