When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Dixon
The city enforces Kentucky Building Code work via Code Enforcement; any construction that alters occupancy, adds square footage or changes systems requires review.
Note: No exempt-work list is posted; owners are advised to call the Code Enforcement officer before beginning projects.

Application process
Application → plan check → issuance → inspection → final
- 01 Contact Code Enforcement Officer Chris O'Leary via email or phone (City Hall will relay messages).
- 02 Provide the scope of work and any plans you have prepared; city staff will determine which documents are needed to comply with the Kentucky Building Code.
- 03 Pay the required fees once the application is deemed complete and await plan review/inspection scheduling.
- 04 After inspections are complete, the permit is finalized and must be posted at the work site.
