Unincorporated Webster County

Kentucky's Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction enforces the Kentucky Building Code statewide, so any new construction or substantial remodel in the county must meet that code and pass through the local inspector before a permit is issued.

Contractor requirements

Contractors must maintain the DHBC licenses that backstop building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical work under the Kentucky Building Code.

   Call or email the Fiscal Court (270-639-5042) and/or the local building inspector at Webster County Health Department (Pat Rhodes, 270-339-4188) to describe the proposed work and confirm the permit pathway.

   Provide the inspector's office with site plans, structural drawings or other documentation required under the Kentucky Building Code before any work begins.

   After review, submit the required fees and await the issuance of a permit placard; the inspector schedules field visits through the Health Department (office hours Tuesday 8:00-9:00 a.m. CST).

   Coordinate any follow-up inspections with the same Health Department office; once all required inspections pass, the permit is finalized.
