When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Trigg County
Commercial construction outside city limits (excluding one- or two-family homes) must secure the state building permit before beginning work. No countywide zoning exists beyond recorded subdivision restrictions.
Note: Public materials do not list exempt work. State and local instructions require a building permit for any commercial construction (other than one- or two-family homes) and for excavation or alteration in the county.
- Completed building permit application
- Plans that include site, size, height, and use details so the Building Inspector can verify compliance with the ordinance and Kentucky Building Code
- Building code
- Kentucky Building Code and Kentucky Residential Code are adopted and enforced across the county by the designated Building Inspector.
- Permit validity
- Permits expire after six months without substantial progress.
- Owner-builder
- Public quick facts do not mention owner-builder exemptions; owner-builders must verify requirements directly with the Building Inspector or Planning Commission.
- Contractor requirements
- Contractors are subject to Cadiz's occupational license regime (Ordinance 08-01) and must coordinate licensing through the City Clerk/City Hall.
