When a permit is required
Permit triggers and exempt work for Pittsboro

Application process
Typical processing: Five business days for review of a complete residential submittal
- 01 Download the correct permit form from the Planning, Zoning, Development Forms and Documents page.
- 02 For residential work, Pittsboro's Residential Building Procedures direct applicants to submit a hard copy to April Wrigley at Pittsboro Town Hall and submit a digital copy to inspections@townofpittsboro.org.
- 03 Include the listed support documents, such as plot plan, blueprints, erosion control plan, preliminary as-designed energy approval form, truss drawings, and completed application.
- 04 Allow five business days for review. If everything is in order, the permit will be issued and the general contractor on the application will be notified.
- 05 Pay at Pittsboro Town Hall, 80 N. Meridian St., when the permit is issued.
- 06 Post the permit visibly from the street for the entire construction period.
- 07 Email inspection requests at least 24 hours in advance to inspections@townofpittsboro.org and complete the full inspection sequence through final and Certificate of Occupancy.
